Integration Guide

    WhatsApp Business

Connect your WhatsApp Business account to LastBot ONE to automate customer conversations, handle escalations to live agents, and unify your messaging channels in one place.

Prerequisites: A Meta Business Account, a phone number not currently registered with WhatsApp, and an active LastBot ONE subscription.

    1

    Create a Meta Business Account

You need a verified Meta Business Account before connecting WhatsApp Business to LastBot ONE.

    • Go to business.facebook.com and sign in with your Facebook account.
    • Click "Create Account" and fill in your business name, your name, and your business email address.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to verify your business email.
    • Complete the identity verification step if prompted: this may require submitting business documents.
If you already have a Meta Business Account, skip to Step 2.
    2

Set Up a WhatsApp Business App

Create a WhatsApp Business app inside the Meta Developer Portal to obtain your API credentials.

    • Visit developers.facebook.com and log in with your Meta Business Account.
    • Click "My Apps" → "Create App", then choose "Business" as the app type.
    • Enter your app name (e.g., LastBot Integration) and select your business account.
    • In the app dashboard, find "WhatsApp" under Products and click "Set up".
    • Note down your App ID and App Secret: you will need these in Step 4.
    3

Add a WhatsApp Business Phone Number

Register the phone number you want to use for customer conversations.

    • Inside the WhatsApp product section, go to "Getting Started" and click "Add phone number".
    • Enter the phone number and choose a verification method (SMS or voice call).
    • Enter the verification code to confirm ownership of the number.
    • Set a display name for the number: this is what customers will see in WhatsApp.
    • Record the Phone Number ID shown on the dashboard; you will need it in Step 4.
Each phone number can only be registered with one WhatsApp Business API account at a time. Make sure to unlink it from any previous providers first.
    4

    Generate a Permanent Access Token

LastBot ONE requires a long-lived system user token to send and receive messages on your behalf.

    • In Meta Business Suite, navigate to "Settings" → "Users" → "System Users".
    • Click "Add" and create a new system user with the "Admin" role.
    • Click "Generate New Token", select your WhatsApp app, and grant the following permissions: whatsapp_business_messaging, whatsapp_business_management.
    • Copy and store the generated token securely: it will only be shown once.
Never share this token publicly. Treat it like a password.
    5

    Connect WhatsApp in LastBot ONE

Enter your credentials in the LastBot ONE dashboard to activate the integration.

    • Log in to your LastBot ONE account and navigate to "Integrations" from the sidebar.
    • Find "WhatsApp Business" and click "Connect".
    • Paste your Phone Number ID, App ID, App Secret, and System User Access Token into the respective fields.
    • Click "Save & Test Connection": LastBot ONE will send a test message to verify the setup.
    • Once confirmed, the status indicator will turn green and the channel is live.
    6

    Configure Conversation Routing

Define how incoming WhatsApp messages are handled by your AI agents and live agents.

    • In the LastBot ONE dashboard, go to "Channels" → "WhatsApp Business".
    • Set up your AI agent greeting message and fallback behavior for unrecognised queries.
    • Configure escalation rules so conversations are handed off to a live agent when needed.
    • Enable or disable read receipts and typing indicators according to your brand preferences.
    • Click "Save" to apply your routing configuration.
You can update routing rules at any time without disconnecting the integration.
